Leeds Homestay Terms and Conditions

Payment and Booking

A booking is confirmed upon receipt of a completed application form and after payment has been cleared through our bank.

A non-refundable one time placement and administration fee of £70 will be charged at the time of booking.

A deposit of £50, for stays up to four weeks and £100, for stays over four weeks will be charged at the time of booking and will be refunded at the end of the accommodation period provided no damages have occured.

If the participant is staying for eight weeks or less then the total amount of fees must be paid at the time of booking.

If the participant is staying more than eight weeks, then only the booking and administration fee (£70), the deposit (£100) and four weeks avccommodation fees are required. Thereafter payment should be made every four weeks in advance.

We will send you an invoice before the due date. Please make these payments are made on time as the host family has to be paid in advance. Continued failure to make payments on time could jeopardize your continuation in homestay.

Cancellations and Refunds

If cancellation is received with more than 14 days notice, the accommodation fees less £70 booking fee will be refunded.

If cancellation occurs with less that 14 days notice, then the cancellation charge will be equivalent of 14 days accommodation fees.

If cancellation is due to a via refusal Leeds Homestay Services (LHS) will issue refunds, less the booking fee and bank charges, under the following conditions:

Seven days notice will need to be given to LHS along with the original signed copy of the visa refusal letter from the Homes Office or British Consulate and sent within two weeks of the visa refusal to LHS.

Termination

If you decide you want to leave earlier than agreed you must give the required notice as outlined below:

For applicants who have booked up to eight weeks or less there must be a minimum notice period of 14 days or 14 days accommodation fees must be paid to Leeds Homestay Services (LHS).

For applicants who have booked for eight weeks or more and want to leave earlier than agreed, you are rquired to give LHS four weeks/28 days notice, or four weeks accommodation fees must be paid to LHS.

Holidays and Breaks

There are no concessions or reduced rates for taking breaks or holidays during your booking period with LHS.

Departure and Left Luggage

Please inform your host of your time of departure on the day you are due to leave.Please make sure you take all your luggage and belongings with you when vacating the homestay as LHS cannot be responsible for personal items left behind.

Complaints

Should you be dissatisfied with your homestay please contact LHS and we will try to sort out the problem for you. If the problem cannot be resolved we will try to relocate you to another homestay. In this case you must give LHS 14 days notice to find alternative accommodation.

LHS reserves the right to transfer a participant from the homestay or refuse to continue to accommodate any participant should LHS find his/her behaviour unacceptable. In this case no refunds are given.

Arrival Time

You must inform LHS of your estimated arrival time, at least 3 days in advance.

House Rules

Whilst LHS want you to be happy in your homestay we want to remind you that you are staying in someone's home and as such you should observe any house rules that the host may request. In order to avoid any problems we advise you to read the "LHS Guidance Notes for Homestay" which we will send you at the time of booking.

Insurance

LHS cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of property whilst in the homestay. Participants are advised that they should take out personal/travel insurance to cover their belongings against theft, loss or damage. The participant will be responsible for his/her personal belongings. Neither LHS or the host family can be held responsible for loss or damage to the participant's personal belongings unless proved to be caused by a member of the host family.

LHS will not accept any liability for disputes, claims or loss arising from disputes between you and the host family.

Under Eighteen

If you are under eighteen years of age LHS requires the written permission of your parent or legal guardian agreeing to your stay in homestay accommodation.
